# Your pet's face is their ID.

PawsitivID is a free app that gives every pet a biometric ID. If someone finds them, they can report it from our app, our website, or the portal shelters and animal control use. You get an instant notification with the location and photos from the sighting. City license, vaccine records, and an AI assistant live in the same app.

> Works alongside your microchip — covers the gap a chip can't, when there's no scanner around.

## What happens when someone finds your pet?

Anyone can report a found pet — neighbors from our app or website, shelters and animal control from their portal.

## Step 1: Someone finds your pet.

A neighbor, shelter, or animal control officer comes across a pet they don't recognize. They want to help.

## Step 2: They report it from wherever they are.

Neighbors use the PawsitivID app or our website. Shelters and animal control officers use their dedicated portal. A few photos from any angle are all the AI needs.

## Step 3: The AI matches and notifies you.

We send an instant push notification and an email. Open the alert to see the exact location and photos from the sighting. Confirm "yes, this is my pet" — or flag a false match.

## Step 4: Contact the finder. Mark them secure.

Once confirmed, the finder's contact details are revealed — whether it's a neighbor, shelter, or animal control officer. Reach out through the app to arrange the pickup. Mark your pet as secure when they're home.

## What does the app actually give you?

- **Biometric pet ID.** Your pet's face becomes their identifier. Multi-angle photos build a profile that holds up across angles and lighting. As your pet ages, we remind you to refresh the photos so the match stays accurate. The same ID works for any finder with a phone, anywhere — no chip scanner needed.
- **Digital city license.** Apply for a city license inside the app. Pay online, get reminders before renewal, store the certificate in one place. Available in select cities — check the app for yours.
- **Vaccine and document storage.** Snap a vet record. AI extracts the dates and uploads them. All your pet's papers — vaccines, certificates, reports — in one place.
- **Avva — your AI assistant.** Avva is the in-app AI assistant. Ask about a cough, a diet swap, or the lab results in your pet's profile — she answers using your pet's actual records.
- **Renewal and care reminders.** License expiry, vaccine boosters, annual vet checks — nothing slips. Reminders land before they're overdue.

## Why does any of this matter?

Three numbers the pet world quietly accepts.

- **5.8M** dogs and cats entered US animal shelters last year — 60% of them as strays ([ASPCA — US Animal Shelter Statistics](https://www.aspca.org/helping-shelters-people-pets/us-animal-shelter-statistics)).
- **13–23%** of dogs and cats are licensed in their city, depending on the jurisdiction ([AVMA](https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/avma-policies/dog-and-cat-population-management)).
- **19%** of dogs — and just 3% of cats — are returned to their owners from US shelters ([Shelter Animals Count 2025 Report](https://www.shelteranimalscount.org/2025-report)).

**One problem connects all three:** most lost pets aren't identifiable when it matters. PawsitivID changes that — your pet, identifiable from any phone, anywhere.

## Built by Datag Inc.

By the team at Datag Inc. — trusted by pet owners and organizations across the US.

## Register them once. Find them anywhere.

It's free, it takes about a minute, and it works the day you need it. Download PawsitivID on iOS or Android.

## Is the PawsitivID app free?

Yes — the PawsitivID app is free to download and use on iOS and Android. You can register pets, store vaccine records, and use the lost-pet matching with no paywall. City license fees are paid through the app at whatever the city charges.

## How does PawsitivID identify my pet without a microchip?

PawsitivID uses biometric facial recognition trained on pet faces. The app reads nose print, fur pattern, and facial geometry from a few phone photos. When a finder uploads a photo from any angle, the AI compares it against registered pets. The match runs on the photo itself — no chip, no scanner, no special hardware.

## What happens if my pet goes missing?

Mark your pet as lost in the app. When someone finds them — a neighbor, shelter, or animal control officer — they report it from our app, our website, or the portal shelters and animal control use. The AI matches the photo to your pet's biometric ID, and you get an instant push notification and email with the exact location and photos from the sighting. Confirm the match to see the finder's contact details, reach out through the app to arrange pickup, and mark your pet as secure when they're home.

## Does PawsitivID replace my microchip or pet license?

No. PawsitivID works alongside both. A microchip helps when a shelter or vet scans it, but most strangers don't carry a scanner. The biometric ID covers that gap. For licensing, PawsitivID lets you apply for and renew your city license inside the app where the city participates. Your existing chip and license stay valid.

## Is my pet's photo data secure?

Yes. Pet photos and biometric data are stored on encrypted servers and used only to match found pets to registered owners. We don't sell pet data, and we don't share it with third parties for marketing. The full policy lives at [/privacy-policy](/privacy-policy).

## What if my pet was registered in a microchip registry that shut down?

A biometric ID doesn't depend on a registry staying online for a finder to read it. If your old chip registry shut down, the chip number is hard to trace — but a finder can still upload a photo at [pawsitivid.com](https://pawsitivid.com) and match against your pet. Add a fresh biometric ID in PawsitivID and you have a working fallback the day a chip registry goes dark.

## Does PawsitivID work for cats?

Yes — PawsitivID identifies cats the same way it identifies dogs, using facial geometry, nose print, and coat pattern. Indoor cats are one of the strongest cases for biometric ID because they often don't wear collars and can't be chip-scanned by the average neighbor who finds them. Register your cat with the same photo flow as a dog.
